Why I don’t go to Psychic & Spiritual Expos Anymore

Early Love for Spiritual Events
Why do I not go to psychic fairs or "new age" type expose anymore (which by the way, I don't use or like the term new age - that's a whole other topic for another article)?
Many years ago in the past, I used to love those things. I was always drawn to this whole world, spiritual knowledge, seeking crystals, oracle cards, spiritual tools and all the things. I loved going to events. So, for example, when I first came to Melbourne, where I live now, at the airport, literally when I arrived, my eyes were drawn to a brochure stand and a particular brochure from a distance. Normally these brochures are about things like, you know, airport services, taxis, sightseeing, and there was a flyer about the "Body, Mind, Spirit" festival. |

I was so drawn to it, and I knew that it was a sign. It was literally on the very next day after my arrival. So of course I made every effort to go, and I absolutely loved it. I went to different lectures they had on did a little meditation, visited all these stands, bought some stuff and I wanted to go every year. I ended up going a few different years afterwards.
Growing Sensitivity and Overwhelm
But I found that as I developed spiritually and as the years went by, I started to find events like that very tiring. There's a lot of people in a small area or even if it's a large event with a lot of stalls and sections, it can be quite overwhelming because of how compact it can feel with so many people.
And you know, us light workers, empaths, don't like to be around a lot of people and we can really take on a lot of that energy. It can literally be so overwhelming and exhausting and also just the busyiness, all the noise and all the things.

Misalignment in the Spiritual Industry
But there are a couple more aspects to this. One of the lessons I have learned along the way, is not everybody on the spiritual path is aligned in terms of aligned with you personally, or aligned with the higher source energy, as in being more God-aligned and walking consciously on the path of light. This was a very hard lesson to learn, because it was experiential.
There are many pathways and different things happening, and unfortunately there is a lot of falseness and ego in the spiritual and self help industry. And that can be quite icky spiritually and energetically.
Also there are people, organizations, groups, businesses and so on that are somehow connecting to something that is more negative or deceitful, whether they know it or not. So, some may know so and others may not realize, or they mighth think they're communicating with spiritual beings who are benevolent, but really they might be some kind of false light entity or illusion on some level (depending on the person and situation).
There are many pathways and different things happening, and unfortunately there is a lot of falseness and ego in the spiritual and self help industry. And that can be quite icky spiritually and energetically.
Also there are people, organizations, groups, businesses and so on that are somehow connecting to something that is more negative or deceitful, whether they know it or not. So, some may know so and others may not realize, or they mighth think they're communicating with spiritual beings who are benevolent, but really they might be some kind of false light entity or illusion on some level (depending on the person and situation).
Energetic Risks in Crowded Spiritual Spaces
So when you are going to a space like this, you don't know what kind of energy you are in. It's bad enough for those of us who are energy sensitive to go to any event or a place that is highly populated, such as a mall. You know that can be tiring enough on its own, or even just going to work.
But when you're in a condensed space of lots of different spiritual people, as much as we would like to think that it's 'Kumbaya' and all 'love and light', that is not necessarily the case. |

Psychic Attack
There was one particular expo that I went to, the same kind that happens yearly that I mentioned, and it is the last one I ever went to. It was jam-packed busy, a mix of all these different kinds of thoughtforms and energies, and I got psychically attacked.
Someone that I actually knew, connected to a negative experience I had had previously with her and a group of people. I could not believe that I banged into this person and got a bomb of weird, negative energy, after I had already cleared energy from that whole group and situation I had been in (I will share that full story with you at another time).
Even though there were some more positive things about the expo, overall, it was more of an unpleasant experience. And I had to go home with fatigue and all that psychic attack energy, and even question the energy of the crystal I had bought.

Bad Readings and Misleading Energies
At another time when I went to see a reader in the reading room, which by the way I don't really recommend those either (or at least discernment is required, more on that later). I got a terrible reading and nothing connected at all. And in fact, I've seen two different readers in that same space, and both were too vague and I was not able to connect with the information or trust in the readers at all.
Keep in mind that this was before I realised I was actually psychic myself, so it was part of my learning experience.
I know that you might be curious and would like to get a reading at a place like that, even if it's just for fun. And yes, there are some wonderful readers and spiritual practitioners too who do provide their services at places like this. Perhaps you will find someone you really resonate with, or have in the past. Trust your own intuition always and follow what feels right for you.

Manipulation and Magical Practices
It's important to understand that the other side of the spiritual coin exists too. There is light and dark and people can poport to be 'spiritual', but really be quite deceitful or working through darkness on some level. Or, they just might not be working in the highest integrity, energetic clarity and light.
You might think you're drawn to someone for their service, but, by the same token, if they are actually misaligned, they might be forcefully or malevolently putting some kind of energy out there to attract you. In my opinion that violates the space, your own space and your free will. Now as a seasoned intuitive energy healer, I'm much more discerning. There are people out these using magical practices in that kind of way, to draw you in, make money by enticing you, or whatever their intention, which is something that I don't do. But I'm especially talking about the ones where it is done in a way where it is manipulative.

Energetic Transmission in Crowds
It's bad enough to receive a spiritual service, speak to a stallholder or bump into someone who is not necessarily walking on the path for the highest good. That's one thing, but it's another to be around people in general and have all this energy in a contained space, everyone's energy and mental and emotional state. It is easy to get drained or transfixed.
Often people that go to events like this are really searching, because they're in a really bad place, or they're desperate for help, answers or change. And that can be a wonderful thing, we've all been there. I myself am always going up and down in the emotional scale and in the spiritual journey. What I am specifically talking about here is when it's people that are especially down, 'open' and vulnerable energetically, and in a more desperate state for spiritual help and resources.
If there are a lot of open people in one place, then that's an attraction to lower energy. There's a lot of energy hopping around and some people will have entity attachments, false things or certain energies around them, that are literally getting transmitted. It's one thing to walk through it (which feels bad enough), and another for it to jump onto you, and you take it on, or even worse, bring it home with you.

In this case that I have mentioned, it is like there are like spiritual bugs in the air that go from one person to another of groups of people. The angels are using the word 'host', showing that a person can act as a host for these things.

And that can be a wonderful thing, we've all been there. I myself am always going up and down in the emotional scale and in the spiritual journey. Energetic Mismatch & Hidden Influences
So all of this is just something to be aware of. Of course I don't necessarily want you to be fearful, or anything like that. You can very much work walk into an environment like that by holding your light, keeping in your space and in your own energy. You can be well protected and observative. I know that I'm capable of doing that too, and do so these days. It's just that I don't want to necessarily be in these kinds of environments.
There might be a time in the future where I might change my mind or at least go to a particular event that I am drawn to. But if that is the case, I will certainly use my intuition and discretion, and go with that intention and integrity in place. I will hold my energy in a certain way, as well as my awareness. I'll be very aware, and extremely protected. I could very much walk into a space like that. I might still feel tired afterwards because it is a lot, just like doing an intuitive or energy session, but that's the difference that it makes. It's the intention, the energy, and the awareness.
There might be a time in the future where I might change my mind or at least go to a particular event that I am drawn to. But if that is the case, I will certainly use my intuition and discretion, and go with that intention and integrity in place. I will hold my energy in a certain way, as well as my awareness. I'll be very aware, and extremely protected. I could very much walk into a space like that. I might still feel tired afterwards because it is a lot, just like doing an intuitive or energy session, but that's the difference that it makes. It's the intention, the energy, and the awareness.
There Are Still Good People and Great Events
Of course, like I said, there are obviously wonderful events and people that attend these things or host them or have reading tables or whatever. And so I do encourage you to follow your intuition as I said. If there's something you're drawn to, then so long as you've checked in with God and your own intuition, then by all means go ahead and you might find you have a wonderful time, get a great reading or just have that kind of fulfilling wonder, soul deepening and reset that you need - by being around positive, aligned, or even grounded, uplifting spiritual people and information.
Trusting Intuition When Something Feels Off
I think it's important to put things into perspective and really have that awareness and discernment. Discernment is an excellent word. I use it much more than ever before, and I really follow it. If I feel something's off, even if it doesn't make sense or I don't understand it, then I trust in that. I encourage you to do so, too.
Intuition is connected to discernment. It is your inner wisdom. It often shows up quietly: as a nudge, a shift in your body, a sense of pressure, or simply a feeling that something isn’t sitting right. You don’t need to analyse or justify what you are feeling. Just acknowledge it to yourself, and act accordingly. That inner signal is your guidance system keeping you aligned, and the more you honour it, the clearer it becomes. Meaningful Encounters at Events
You might also find that you bang into someone that you know or an acquaintance. It's a very interesting if that happens at an event like that. It has happened to me, even being in a foreign country, where I saw someone I had worked with while travelling in Japan. Go figure! Many spiritual things actually happened during my time in Japan, so it also make sense, and as I am writing this now, I am hearing 'karmically'. So karma and soul friend connections can also be a at play.
I think that out of all the people in the world and you bang into someone at a place like that, it does carry resonance and meaning. Whether it's a more negative one or a more positive one (and as I have shared with you, I've had both), you'll know from the experience that you have.
Given that it's a spiritual event, if you are bumping into someone that you know on some level, there's more than likely a message in it. In fact, as I said that, if it's a negative one, I felt quite a lot of pressure. My throat's going felt pressure in the ears. I could really feel the energy of it.

Discernment & Energetic Alignment
When it comes to buying products such as crystals or a service, just step back and get the vibe of the stall. As I said, there's so many different energies and also some of the beings that people connect with are won't resonate with you or something about that person and their spiritual work or rituals or whatever it is they're connected to or their intentions may be a clash to yours or of detriment.So, it really is important to step back and really feel into, okay, is this really for me? Is this a an energetic match? Because there might be something that's drawing you in that could be positive or it could be on the other end. It's drawing you in for a more negative or non-match reason.
Especially if you go in ungrounded, unprotected or in a highly emotional and mentally down state. If you're needy, then watch out. Discernment isn’t about being in fear, because that is an energy that brings you down. It is rather about staying in a detached, observative state. It is about maturity, awareness and clarity. It’s simply recognizing when something aligns with you, and when it doesn’t - and giving yourself permission to pause or step back when you’re unsure.
