The Early Connection
Cassandra and I have known each other for over two decades, initially connected through my husband who was her client first. Over the years, we formed a friendship rooted in mutual understanding, energetic sensitivity, and meaningful conversations that evolved far beyond simple salon small talk.
There was a resonance between us. It wasn’t something she could name at the time—she hadn’t yet identified herself as an empath or fully tuned into her own intuitive gifts—but there was an energetic spark. Our early chats, which started with shared experiences like migraines and sensitivity to energy, soon unfolded into layered, soul-nourishing conversations that touched on spirituality, emotion, and unseen realms. What began as routine appointments gradually became sacred exchanges—intuitive, reflective, and rich with meaning.

Falling into Hairdressing, Rising into Purpose
Interestingly, Cassandra never set out to become a hairdresser. It was a path she "fell into" as something to do until she figured out her true calling. But over time, she found herself thriving in the field, winning awards and building confidence. Eventually, she realized that her spiritual and empathetic side was deeply intertwined with her creative expression. This fusion became more pronounced as she transitioned into working for herself and creating her business, Artistiek, a name that perfectly reflects her inner artist.
The Salon vs. The Sacred Space
Working in traditional salons eventually became energetically overwhelming. Cassandra began to recognize how toxic work environments, mirrors, noise, and frenetic energy affected her as a sensitive person. That realization prompted a powerful shift: she created her own sacred space by moving her business into her home studio. This allowed her to carefully curate her working environment and even intuitively pair clients when doubling up on appointments. She noticed that clients often had meaningful interactions with one another, creating a supportive and synchronistic atmosphere.
That shift also suited me big time, being a highly introverted empath, sensitive to busy environments, and a migraneur. I definitely am not a fan of being in a loud chemical-imbued room with a thousand mirrors and sharp scissors and eyeballs reflected between people.

Creative Colour as Intuitive Art
One of the most beautiful evolutions in Cassandra's work is how she approaches creative color. Rainbow hair, for example, has become her true passion. These long appointments are immersive, intuitive, and deeply fulfilling for both her and her clients. Cassandra often receives visual flashes of the color patterns she wants to create, aligning her artistic vision with each client’s energy. This level of intuitive creativity is a clear reflection of her spiritual gifts—she channels color, emotion, and energy into her work.
Emotional Investment and Energetic Boundaries
Cassandra gives her full self during appointments, which can leave her physically and emotionally drained. Like many empaths, she had to learn the importance of boundaries and self-care. Moving to a regional area and spending more time in nature has become her main form of energetic replenishment. From walking in the bush to foraging and connecting with the elements, these rituals help her ground and refill her cup. She's also intentionally restructured her schedule to allow rest days between clients, which has significantly improved her energy levels and sustainability in her work.
Serving Beyond Hair
Over time, Cassandra realized her work had a much deeper impact than simply transforming someone’s appearance. Her chair became a space for emotional release, healing conversations, and soul-level support. Many first-time clients would unexpectedly open up, sharing personal stories or seeking comfort.
Cassandra's willingness to be open about her own mental health journey and life struggles created a safe space for vulnerability. She acknowledges that she's more than just a hairdresser—she's a listener, a guide, and sometimes even a seed-planter for healing and awakening.

Whether suggesting a bold new hairstyle or gently dropping intuitive insights, Cassandra often plants seeds that bloom long after the appointment ends. Her approach is deeply respectful and non-imposing, allowing clients to take what resonates and leave the rest. As she expands her interest into mental health advocacy and support—including completing webinars on topics like domestic violence—she feels called to be of service in broader ways, not only through aesthetics but through heart-centered connection and understanding.

Cassandra is a true empath. She absorbs energy, senses subtle shifts, and responds with warmth and authenticity. Her intuition has developed organically through years of being open, curious, and present. From clairvoyant flashes about a hair color to picking up on a client’s emotional state before they even walk through the door, she now honors her gifts as integral to her artistry and service. Her journey is a beautiful example of what happens when an empath follows their inner knowing, trusts their instincts, and aligns their business with their soul. In doing so, she not only transforms hair but also lives—one intuitive, heartfelt session at a time.
