Form & Appearance
The name Lepidolite comes from the Latin word 'lepidos' which means scale, and so you can see why when you look at lepidolite's structural form. You can tell by its unique and interesting appearance that it has scaly layers that apear like flat, angular plates, blades or sheets. Each layer has a slight shine and is soft, shiny, reflective and semi-translucent.
In its natural state, ie: unpolished, lepidolite is in mica form. Mica is a metallic mineral that has high content of lithium. It grows in layers that are very thing and although appear opaque, upon closer look are quite transparent and even reflective. The mineral mica has its own physical and metaphysical properties that add to the gifts of the spiritual, emotional, mental and physical attributes of this calming stone.
Lepidolite comes in a lovely soft, lilac colour mostly, or a greyish light purple/lavendar, but can be pink tones also. The purple aspect makes the stone very spiritual, as purple is the highest frequency on the coluor spectrum. It helps us attune to higher realms and raise our frequency.
