Coping in Mumsville
If you are a parent, especially a mother, you can relate to the humorous, yet spookily life-like picture on the left!!
No one said parenting would be easy. We get run down and pulled from all angles. We often find ourselves multi-tasking, and thinking about the next ten things on our list while we are trying to get another six things done all at once!

And then, there's the children! Welcome to the world of motherhood! Being 'present' and 'in the now' can be hard to achieve. Some of us are constantly spinning that mouse wheel and yearning to catch breath!
Giving Our Kids Wings to Fly
The biggest gift we can give our children, is wings to fly, encouraging them to be themselves and believe in themselves. The quote:
"Children want our presence, not our presents."
has always stood out to me.
"Children want our presence, not our presents."
has always stood out to me.
Have you noticed how children respond when you really tune into them, when you connect at a deep level, when you are fully present. Being 'present' and 'in the now' is such a challenge to us in modern society, we often have a million thoughts running around our mind and seemingly endless 'to do' lists!
Children learn from not just participation, but also observation. They pick up so much from others around them, and they are sensitive little psychic sponges, especially children nowadays. We need to be mindful of what we say, do and how we treat each other. If we can be more relaxed, gentle and participate more with our children, they will truly respond and deeper connections will be made.

I always feel whether you are a parent, teacher, have a younger sibling or just know some kids around you, kids need our encouragement, support and constancy.
Teaching children that they can do it, that they can go for their dreams, that they can come out of their shells, slowly, but surely; will give them etheric wings to fly bravely ahead and allow them to feel more safe, capable and ready as each new threshold approaches.

7 Steps to a Happier, More Spiritual Mum
1. Try to find and maintain balance. This is so crucial. Try calling upon the Goddess Isis to help you find balance between work, play and domesticity / motherhood / marriage. Don't feel that you need to complete EVERYTHING. Learn to let some things go and don't have high expectations or put pressure on yourself to be a super mum, we are only human after all!
2. Breathe! Practise inhaling and exhaling. Try some simple breathing exercises. Breathe in through the nose (1,2,3), breathe out through the mouth! Do this a few times until you feel more relaxed. Try visualizing you are breathing in love and peace (or something else you desire such as joy or creativity), and breathing out all negative emotions and thoughts such as fears, worries, doubt and toxins. Try mindfulness exercises or meditation.

3. Get outside. Take in the fresh air. Look at all the nature and wildlife around you. Try spending some time potting around the garden. You'll be surprised at how relaxing and refreshing it can be. It's always soulfully fulfilling to have a casual picnic in a local park! And the kids love it! Get some exercise. Even if it's a light stroll around your neighbourhood. We always feel better after a walk or mini workout.
4. Connect. Connect with yourself and your spirit. Connect with earth. Connect with the universe and spiritual realms. Connect with other like-mindeds.

5. Be around water. This could be as simple as taking a warm bath with salts and essential oils, or if you can, jumping in a pool or driving to a beach, river or lake. Water helps recharge, revitalise and cleanse.
6. Spend some quality time by yourself doing things that you enjoy, whether its a quiet read, a hobby or passion or out for a solo cappucino. Try journalling and writing down your thoughts.
7. Get good sleep. Develop a night time routine. Try having a mini nap during the day.
