Introduction to Angel Hierarchy
There are many different types of angels and they are said to be categorized into a hierarchy of three levels or groups, also referred to as hierarchies, from the highest omnipotence of angelic energy being at the top of the hierarchy closest to God (what some refer to as the God Head), to the lowest group in the hierarchy being nearest to earth.
It is important to note that the lower angelic forms of the hierarchy are still of a very high energy and power.

A Synopsis of the Angelic Hierarchy

Here is a synopsis of the levels in the angel hierarchy:
The top level of the hierarchy is referred to as The Supreme Hierarchy, composed of Seraphim, Cherubim and Thrones. Below that level is The Middle Hierarchy which includes Dominions, Virtues and Powers. And at the bottom tier is The Lower Hierarchy comprising of Principalities, Archangels and Angels. Each kind of angelic energy / being within each hierarchy has its own essence as well as role, purpose and function.

There are also three levels of angel orders within each hierarchy. It is interesting that the hierarchy is organized in this way of 3 x 3 = 9, as these are sacred numbers in the bible as well as in numerology. Three represents the holy trinity, and nine gives a sense of coming full circle into completion |

The Types of Angels of the Three Levels of the Angel Hierarchy
1. The Supreme Hierarchy
|
SeraphimThe Seraphim are the Highest Order of angels.
They are powerful energies close to the God head. They represent Pure Love and Light, and hold the Vibration of Creation. |
CherubimThe Cherubim are often depicted in art as baby or child-like angels. I would assume that just like when babies are first born on earth, Cherubim have a pure energy, being so close to God in heaven.
Cherubim represent Intellect, Insight, Wisdom and Knowledge. They are also said to Guard the Stars and Heavens. |

ThronesThrones are said to represent Justice.
Their important role is to guard the planets, including Earth. |
2. The Middle HierarchyDominionsDominions administrate God's Will. They oversee the other angels in the hierarchies below them.
VirtuesVirtues transmit light and create miracles.
It is said that they can also regulate the weather. |

PowersThe Powers are said to be the Lord of Karma. They are angels of birth and death.

3. The Lower Hierarchy
Principalities
Principalities have the job to protect cities, countries, corporations, organizations and its leaders. They are said to be great Guardians of nations as well as important people. This is interesting as Earth surely needs this kind of assistance in this day and age!
Archangels

Archangels are well known to humans. They are powerful Emissaries of Light.
There are an array of Archangels (such as Archangel Michael, Raphael, Gabriel and Uriel), each with its own specific role, gift and energy. As a group they oversee the angels and Divine Light missions. Read more about Archangels here. |
